Malini Awasthi (born 11 February 1967) a name that is synonymous with folk music. She sings in Hindi language dialects like Awadhi, Bundelkhandi and Bhojpuri. She is known for her renditions of Thumri and Kajri. Singing folk and explaining its lore to a new generation is her passion. Her voice enthralls listeners when she sings folk songs and explains the folklore associated with the music. She is a regular performer at popular classical music festival, Jahan-e-Khusrau. With her high pitch voice she is popular for rendition of Thumri. She is an A grade artist of All India Radio, an ICCR artist . She is a recipient of the Padma Shri in 2016.
