Pachra is a folk form in Bhojpuri from UP, sung to please the Goddess Seetala mata or Devi and invoke her in times of small pox affliction. Seetala mata is considered the goddess of 'chechak' or small pox. It describes the qualities of neem, which is also an antiseptic and very useful at the time of small pox is considered very dear to Seetala mata and the songs usually describe her near a neem tree or swinging on it.
