Shubha Mudgal, with her distinct voice and magnetic personality, has been active in the field for over three decades.Trained by some of the finest musicians and musicologists in India, her repertoire includes the genres of Khayal, Thumri and Dadra, as also popular Indian pop music. Under the guidance of eminent scholar-musician-composer Pandit Ramashreya Jha, Pandit Vinaya Chandra Maudgalya and Pandit Vasant Thakar her rendition of different genres from Hindustani Classical, folk to bhajans or even Indian pop, captivates listeners, both old and young .Her music is marked by a rare mellifluousness, crystal clear outlook and has the ability to take the listener along.
Her awards and achievements include Padma Shri from the Government of India in 2000, Gold Plaque Award for Special Achievement in Music at the 34th Chicago International Film Festival, Yash Bharati Samman, National Film Award, Aadharshila Award 1996, Kalashri Award from Raja Ram Mohan Roy Education Foundation 1997, Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award.
She is also active in promoting music as a part of education curriculum in India.Know more
